Founded in 1846, H.P. Hood and Sons grew to become the most dominant dairy provider for New England and beyond. As America shifted towards urbanization in the industrial economy, founder Harvey Hood settled his operations in Charlestown and built a business that flourished into an iconic Boston brand. Today, Hood is still synonymous with local character, including the “Hoodsie” cup and the Hood Milk Bottle. As the production facilities are redefined into the 21st century, a dynamic mix of companies are crafting their own stories from inside the same brick and beams. A monumental smoke stack adorned with “Hoods Milk” serves as a highly visible landmark for the campus, where companies are claiming a stake in Boston’s expanding innovation economy.
Three buildings are already in active use, and the master plan calls for:
- A mixed-use 20-acre, 1.2 million-square foot urban campus
- Four build-to-suit opportunities
- A park with grass, mature trees, walkways and sitting areas
- Enhanced telecommunications capabilities and power
- Ample Free on-site parking
